Event: OEOSS Round 3
Location: Wilminton, OH
This past weekend was the 3rd round of the OEOSS series (https://www.facebook.com/oeoss http://oeoss.com/). The staff at CCRCR built a very interesting and fun track. The track included 2 large table tops, many off camber turns and many elevation changes. No doubles, tripples, step ups etc. Very wide turns and flowed really well. The track was fast and easy to navigate making for some very close racing. The track grooved up very nicely and had a very nice bluegrove around the entire track.
Qualifying: Qualifying would go decent for me. The first round I had a huge bobble that set me back a good 20 seconds or so. The second round i decided to focus really hard on getting a clean run in. While it was not a perfect run I was able to improve my qualifying time significantly. The 3rd run I would just like to forget about (lol). Overall I would qualify 7th placing me mid pack of the A-Main.
A-Main: There was a long delay between the end of qualifying and the start of the mains.(due to a computer issue) The temps cooled down significantly as night came and the moisture in the track came up. I decided it would be best to run a different tire. ( I had been running soft Ibeams all day and decided on soft Gridiron 2s for the main) The tire choice ended up not being the best all they would catch on any imperfection in the track and ultimately had “to much grip”. Between the poor tires choice, a bad first lap, and a flame out my chances for contention were over. I finished the main in the 9th position.
Summary: My NB48 was amazing all day. I couldn’t be happier with the setup and handling of the car. Tekno had a large showing once again which is always nice to see.
A huge thank you to Pete Clark for all of the Pit stop work. I huge thank you to Matt Hale for all of the hard work getting the track ready despite all of the rain we had the week/night before the race. Thank you Tim Melaragno for putting together an awesome series.
